Location: Nottingham
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week (including on-call and sleep-in duties as required)
Salary: Up to £55,800 (inclusive of Ofsted and occupancy bonuses)
 
I am recruiting on behalf of a respected provider of residential care services for young people. We are currently seeking a Registered Manager to oversee a newly opened 4-bed children's home based in Nottingham.
 
About the Role
 
This is a key leadership role where you'll hold full accountability for the operational management, compliance, and outcomes of the home. You'll ensure the home provides high-quality care and promotes the rights and well-being of young people in line with legislative and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will lead a team of dedicated care workers, driving best practice and delivering safe, nurturing environments where young people can thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Service and Practice
 
·Ensure delivery of high-quality care in line with Ofsted SCCIF, Children's Homes Regulations, and internal policies.
·Safeguard young people and promote their rights and welfare at all times.
·Maintain effective record-keeping, risk assessments, and audit systems.
·Manage admissions and discharges in line with organisational procedures.
·Prepare for and chair internal and external meetings; provide accurate and timely reports.
·Participate in the on-call rota and cover sleep-in shifts if necessary.
·Promote continuous improvement and innovate care approaches.
Staff Leadership and Development
 
·Lead the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of the staff team.
·Ensure all mandatory training is completed and that supervision, appraisal, and performance management systems are effective.
·Foster a positive team culture aligned with organisational values.
·Manage team rotas, absence cover, and ensure staff wellbeing.

Resources and Finance
 
·Oversee the home's budget, ensuring compliance with financial procedures and targets.
·Ensure the physical environment is well-maintained and safe.
External Liaison
 
·Represent the service positively with external stakeholders including local authorities, regulators, and other professionals.
·Liaise with referral managers to ensure appropriate placements and smooth transition processes.
·Contribute to leadership forums and support strategic planning and service development.

Essential Criteria
 
·NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
·Proven experience managing a residential children's home.
·Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory frameworks.
·Ability to lead, motivate, and support staff effectively.
·Resilience, emotional intelligence, and strong decision-making skills.
·Excellent communication, planning, and organisational abilities.
·A valid UK driving licence and access to suitable transport.
