Greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a hands-on Finance Manager is required to lead the day-to-day running of the finance function within a growing SME. This role will focus on financial control, managing a small team, and delivering accurate and timely reporting.

Duties of the role will include:

• Oversee daily finance operations (AP, AR, payroll, cash management)

• Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules

• Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity

• Manage cash flow and short-term forecasting

• Lead, mentor, and review the work of a small finance team

• Ensure compliance with VAT, statutory reporting, and audit requirements

• Liaise with external auditors and advisors

• Identify and implement process improvements

Skills, Requirements, Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)

• Proven experience in a hands-on SME finance role

• Experience in commodities or stock-driven environments preferred

• Strong month-end and financial control experience

• Prior team management or supervisory experience

• Good Excel and systems skills

• Hands-on, organised, and detail-focused

• Strong sense of ownership and accountability

• Able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Practical and solutions-oriented
