Greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a hands-on Finance Manager is required to lead the day-to-day running of the finance function within a growing SME. This role will focus on financial control, managing a small team, and delivering accurate and timely reporting.
Duties of the role will include:
Oversee daily finance operations (AP, AR, payroll, cash management)
Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity
Manage cash flow and short-term forecasting
Lead, mentor, and review the work of a small finance team
Ensure compliance with VAT, statutory reporting, and audit requirements
Liaise with external auditors and advisors
Identify and implement process improvements
Skills, Requirements, Qualifications
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
Proven experience in a hands-on SME finance role
Experience in commodities or stock-driven environments preferred
Strong month-end and financial control experience
Prior team management or supervisory experience
Good Excel and systems skills
Hands-on, organised, and detail-focused
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Practical and solutions-oriented
