Prospero Teaching is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist independent school that supports children and young people aged 918 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and related conditions.

This setting offers a therapeutic and nurturing environment, with a highly experienced team of staff and therapists dedicated to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The school promotes a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to learning.

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students in small group settings or on a 1:1 basis, helping them overcome challenges and re-engage with education. You will play a vital role in promoting emotional wellbeing, supporting learning outcomes, and building positive relationships with pupils.

We Welcome Applications From Candidates With Experience In:

Working with children or young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or trauma-related needs
Healthcare or nursing environments
Residential or social care
Supporting personal care needs
Using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton
Manual handling and de-escalation strategiesContract Details:

Location: New Forest, Hampshire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2025 / ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Working Hours: 8:30am 4:00pm (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £96.00-£104.70 (depending on experience)Requirements:

Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (preferred)
Minimum 1 year of experience working with children or young people
GCSEs in English and Maths
Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (within the last year)
Right to Work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
