We're working with a specialist engineering consultancy that's growing its UK team and looking to hire a permanent HV Cable Design Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on major UK and international energy infrastructure projects, offering strong autonomy and technical variety.

Role Overview

You'll be involved in high-voltage (HV) cable system design up to 525kV. Your work will span all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to detailed installation designs. Responsibilities include:

HV cable route assessments and feasibility reports

Thermal analysis of cable systems (including FEM)

*

Design reviews, 3D modelling, and installation drawings

*

Technical documentation, specs, and constructability input

*

Factory inspections, FAT witnessing, and client support

*

Impressed voltage and fault studies

*

Interfacing with civil design teams for cable structures and foundations

What We're Looking For

*

Strong experience in HV cable design (132kV and above)

*

Solid grasp of UK grid codes, standards, and safety practices

*

Experience with FEM tools and cable system calculations

*

Comfortable managing documentation and client communication

*

Able to contribute to design assurance and reviews

*

Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
