Role Purpose
To provide flexible classroom and pupil support across primary (or secondary, if applicable) settings, ensuring pupils' learning, safety, and wellbeing are maintained during staff absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering planned lessons and activities
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour in line with school policies
- Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, where required
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Supervise pupils during lessons, transitions, and breaktimes
- Adapt quickly to different school settings, routines, and year groups
- Communicate effectively with teaching staff and provide feedback as required
Person Specification / Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting
- A flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND
- EYFS, KS1, or KS2 experience
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3)
