Interim Head of Maintenance & Infrastructure
Salary: £60,000 – £73,000
Contract: 6-month Fixed Term Contract (with potential to extend)
Location: Kent (hybrid campus-based role)
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Maintenance & Infrastructure to join a large, complex estate on an interim basis. This is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, engineering services, and statutory compliance across a substantial multi-site campus environment.
The Role
You will lead multidisciplinary teams spanning mechanical, electrical, building fabric, grounds and energy engineering. Core responsibilities include:
- Overseeing maintenance strategies, compliance, and risk mitigation across a diverse estate
- Ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met, including management of high-risk areas
- Driving performance across PPM scheduling, CAFM systems, and reactive repair delivery
- Managing maintenance budgets and ensuring value for money from internal and external resources
- Acting as a senior technical authority for engineering standards and safe systems of work
- Leading capital and revenue works programmes within the maintenance and engineering portfolio
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high service levels
About You
The successful candidate will bring:
- A background in mechanical, electrical or building services engineering
- Strong leadership experience within Hard FM / Estates maintenance environments
- Excellent knowledge of statutory compliance, H&S legislation and technical standards
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in a complex, high-demand setting
- Experience with CAFM systems and data-driven maintenance planning
- Chartered or senior professional standing (desirable but not essential for interim)
