Salary: £31650 - £43607/annum pro rata

Quantum Scholars are delighted to be supporting a Pupil Referral Unit in Berkshire, who are seeking a passionate and dedicated qualified Primary teacher/tutor to join their team as soon as possible for an initial one-term placement. This meaningful role offers excellent flexibility, with both full-time and part-time (3 days per week) options available. The ideal candidate will feel confident delivering engaging lessons and offering highly personalised support to a very small group of learners (just 1-2 students per group).

You will play an essential part in supporting pupils within a focused, nurturing environment-helping them re-engage with education and achieve genuine progress.

Requirements

UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Strong teaching experience, ideally within mainstream, SEN, or alternative provision

Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons for small groups

Secure understanding of the national curriculum and effective differentiation

Experience working with students with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs (highly desirable for PRUs)

Excellent behaviour-management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships

Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills

A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons for groups of 1-2 students

Provide focused academic and pastoral support to learners with SEMH or additional needs

Foster a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment

Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour

Monitor student progress and share feedback with the wider teaching team

Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals

Prepare learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment

Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils
