Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional learning needs within a welcoming secondary school in Durham.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs. Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or a graduate looking to begin a rewarding career in SEND education, we would love to hear from you.

You will support students aged 11-16 with a range of needs, which may include autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, SEMH needs, or physical disabilities. Your role will involve providing individualised support, helping students access learning, and promoting independence and confidence.

Requirements:

Experience supporting young people with SEN (school, care, or community setting)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A patient, resilient, and positive attitude

Confidence working with secondary-aged students (11-16)

A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

A passion for SEN education and supporting young people to succeed
