Job Overview/Summary

Suitable for a newly qualified or finalist ACCA/CIMA/ACA with 3-5 years related experience.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant will coordinate and manage accounting processes related to the historical reporting of the legal entity.

Key activities include managing, month end close, banking activities, VAT reporting, overseeing all cash transactions (AP &AR), and coordinating the monthly group consolidations process and balance sheet reconciliations.

This individual will play a central role in supporting the Financial Controller on statutory audits, corporate policies and controls and intercompany activities. This role will deputise as and when for the Financial Controller, so will need the gravitas and ambition to be able to work within a demanding and fast moving business.

This position has a high level of visibility and exposure to Europe and corporate finance leaders and will have opportunity to participate in cross-functional process improvement and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

Maintains timely and accurate recording of all accounting transactions for the UK legal entity

  • Reviews all day to day transactions to the Netsuite accounting system
  • Manages and coordinates the booking of accounting entries and accruals to ensure accurate recording of financial information on a monthly basis in accordance with UK GAAP
  • Provide accounting and business support to the Europe operations, including research and recommendations on accounting issues, as well as implementation of accounting changes.
  • Ensure data integrity between all reporting systems
  • Manages the HFM data consolidation process within corporate guidelines and meeting all deadlines and deliverables
  • Monitors all Balance Sheet accounts on a frequent basis in line with corporate best practice to ensure accuracy in the recording of transactions
  • Works closely with Customer Service team on the seamless execution of the Order to Cash process
  • Monitors and mentor the work of the AR/AP Analyst to ensure accurate accounts payable, receivable and cash management processes

Oversees all banking, credit card and cash transactions and support the AP/AR analyst in ensuring accurate and efficient recording of all payments and cash receipts

  • Review and approve trade and intercompany payments by overseeing and activities of the AR/AP analyst
  • Liaise with Customer Care team on payment application and remittance advice from customers
  • Coordinates the monthly reconciliation of Intercompany with all Clorox Partners and coordinate payments to group entities (including newly created Luxembourg entity)

Manages the VAT and legal entity tax activities

  • Responsible for the collation, reconciliation and payment of VAT activities
  • Works with tax advisors to ensure accurate tax compliance and input to Statutory Audit
  • Support Financial Controller on corporate tax returns, transfer pricing analysis and global tax compliance analysis

Ensures best practice internal controls and accounting

  • Provide support to the Financial Controller and Finance Director in ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place and provide recommendation to improve internal controls.
  • Work with global lease accounting team on lease accounting
  • Manage and reconcile other balance sheet activities including fixed assets, prepayments and inventory
  • Lead the data request and collation requirements of the annual statutory audit
  • Review the current accounting policy and recommend changes to ensure best practice is followed
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement to drive effectiveness and efficiency with a focus on increasing automation.

Years And Type Of Experience

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

  • Newly Qualified or Finalist ACCA/CIMA/ACA with 3-5 years related experience
  • Solid understanding of UK GAAP and financial statements and how to apply it efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to communicate information to Leadership and distill issues and risks.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, with attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Experience of statutory accounts preparation, government and tax returns, cash management
  • People management skills are desirable
  • Collaboration and Influencing skills

Skills And Abilities

  • MS skills required (excel, word, powerpoint, etc.)
  • Concur, HFM, Netsuite and Essbase systems experience is desired
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills


Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or Equivalent
