We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team at Heidelberg Materials, Ketton plant. The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in our cement manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of electrical principles, HV and LV, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Carry out maintenance and repair operations in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan/budget in order to Improve operational reliability and availability of the plant and machinery at the lowest effective maintenance costs for all equipment, installations and buildings on site

Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with relevant codes and safety standards, including IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical problems using various testing devices and techniques; implement effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Repair and Replacement: Identify faulty components and repair or replace them as needed; coordinate with supervisors to procure necessary parts and materials.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures set by Heidelberg Materials at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inspection reports.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and production staff to optimise equipment performance and minimise downtime.

  • Training and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices through continuous learning and training opportunities.

  • HV and LV Switchgear Inspection and Testing: Work with high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) switchgear, cable, motors and transformer systems; conduct inspection and test regimes to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Education: NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering or equivalent. HNC beneficial.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an electrician or electrical technician in an industrial setting, preferably in the cement or manufacturing industry.

  • Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and equipment; familiarity with PLCs, motor controls, instrumentation, and power distribution systems.

  • IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations: Proficient knowledge and application of IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations in all electrical installations and maintenance activities.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

  • Safety Conscious: Knowledge of electrical safety practices and regulations; commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and working at heights or in confined spaces.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, and support the on call rota.

  • Problem-Solving Attitude: Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards identifying and addressing maintenance issues.
