Job Summary:
An experienced Private Sector Housing Officer is required to support additional workload within the housing compliance team. The role involves inspecting private sector properties, identifying hazards using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and ensuring compliance with housing legislation. The officer will also manage cases, support HMO licensing activities, and take enforcement action where required to maintain housing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of private sector properties and identify hazards using HHSRS.
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation, including HMO standards and licensing requirements.
- Investigate complaints and assess property conditions.
- Take appropriate enforcement action where housing standards are not met.
- Maintain accurate records and manage caseloads effectively.
- Work with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders to improve housing conditions.
Key Requirements:
- HHSRS qualification with strong hazard identification experience.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, including HMOs and licensing.
- Experience carrying out inspections and enforcement action.
- Strong case management and communication skills.
