Teaching Personnel are working with a client school in Bournemouth, seeking a full time Teaching Assistant for an immediate start (subject to vetting). The school is a primary SEN setting, catering for pupils with special educational needs with needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ADHD and ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition). Due to the needs of the pupils, they can display challenging behaviour.
The school has small class sizes, of around 6-8 pupils, and follows the mainstream curriculum - adapted to meet the needs of individual pupils. The school is rate 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and has excellent policies in place to support these pupils.
You will be working as a class based TA, supporting the class teacher with the lessons. This will involve working with small groups of children and working on a 1-1 basis. You will be supporting children with their work, but also providing emotional and behavioural support.
To be successful in this role you should:
- have experience working with children with behaviour needs or SEN
- have an understanding of the National Curriculum to be able to support children with their work
- be confident with challenging behaviour
- have a calm, nurturing approach
This is a full time role to start immediately. This is a temporary role in the first instance, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
