EYFS 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant | Blackpool | April Start

Location: Blackpool, Lancashire

Start Date: 13th April 2026 (Following Easter Break)

Salary: Competitive Hourly Rate (AWR Protected)

Contract: Temporary (Initial 6 weeks, potential to extend to July 2026)

Shift Options: Part-time (Afternoons) OR Full-time (Full Days)

Are you a compassionate EYFS specialist looking for a role that offers true flexibility? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal child with an EHCP in a vibrant Blackpool primary school.

We are welcoming applications from candidates seeking either a part-time afternoon schedule or a full-time hybrid position.

Choose Your Working Pattern

Option 1: Part-Time (Afternoons Only) Monday - Friday, 12:30 - 15:30. Focus exclusively on specialist 1:1 support for a non-verbal child as they join the school for their afternoon session.
Option 2: Full-Time (Full Days) Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30. Spend your mornings as a General EYFS TA supporting the wider Reception/Nursery cohort, before transitioning into the dedicated 1:1 SEN role in the afternoon.

The Role & Responsibilities

Working within a Nurture UK setting, you will act as a dedicated learning partner for a child with complex communication needs.

1:1 Specialist Support: Interpreting needs and facilitating communication for a non-verbal pupil using visual aids and sensory cues.
EHCP Implementation: Working closely with the SENDCO and Class Teacher to meet the specific targets outlined in the child's plan.
EYFS Curriculum Access: Adapting play-based learning activities to ensure they are accessible, inclusive, and engaging.
Nurturing Environment: Applying the six principles of nurture to create a safe, literacy-rich space for the child to grow.

Requirements

Qualification: A recognised EYFS Qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is essential.
Experience: Proven experience supporting children with SEND, specifically those who are non-verbal or have complex communication needs.
Communication: Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables) is highly desirable.
Attributes: Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to building a strong 1:1 bond.
