About the Role

We are recruiting Residential Support Workers to support children and young people in small, nurturing residential homes. Due to the needs of the young people, including 2:1 staffing requirements, we are expanding the team to provide greater flexibility and consistency of care.

You will work as part of a dedicated staff team to provide high-quality, child-centred care, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). The homes support a maximum of two young people at any one time (or up to three if siblings), ensuring a calm, stable, and outcomes-focused environment.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a 3-week rolling rota, consisting of 7 shifts over 3 weeks.

Example rota:

Week 1: 18-hour shift / 15-hour shift / 18-hour shift

Week 2: 15-hour shift / 18-hour shift

*

Week 3: 18-hour shift / 15-hour shift / 18-hour shift

Shift Types:

*

Waking Night: 10pm - 8am (10 hours)

*

Long Day Sleep: 7:30am - 11:00pm (sleep-in, wake-up 6:30am-9:00am)

*

Long Day: 7:30am - 10:30pm

Flexibility across the rota is essential. Overtime is available.

About the Young People

*

Teenagers with emotional and behavioural difficulties

*

Some young people currently require 2:1 support

*

Behaviours may include emotional dysregulation, attention-seeking, or running from placement

*

No personal care is required

*

Medication support is not currently required (but may change)

Key Responsibilities

Child-Centred Care and Development

*

Build safe, trusting, and positive relationships with children and young people

*

Support emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches

*

Assist with daily routines, including mornings, evenings, and school preparation

*

Promote education, independence, and personal development

*

Encourage positive behaviour through consistency, boundaries, and positive reinforcement

Safeguarding and Welfare

*

Actively safeguard children and young people in line with policies and procedures

*

Report concerns, disclosures, or incidents promptly and appropriately

*

Follow risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and care plans

*

Use physical intervention only where trained and necessary

Daily Living and Home Environment

*

Support and participate in activities, outings, and community engagement

*

Encourage life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and independence

*

Maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment

*

Administer medication safely where trained and required

Professional Practice

*

Complete accurate and timely records, including daily logs and incident reports

*

Attend team meetings, training, and supervision

*

Work collaboratively with external professionals (e.g. social workers, education providers)

*

Uphold children's rights, individuality, culture, and beliefs
