Maths Teacher (QTS) Maternity Cover

Prospero Teaching is working with a well-established secondary school in Basingstoke who are seeking a dedicated Qualified Maths Teacher to join them from April 2026 on a full-time maternity cover contract.
The school is rated Good by Ofsted (October 2024) and is known for its supportive leadership, strong outcomes, and well-structured Maths curriculum. You will be joining a knowledgeable and collaborative department with clear schemes of work, established routines, and a positive team culture.

The Role:

Teach Mathematics across KS3 and KS4
Deliver lessons aligned with the AQA GCSE curriculum
Full teaching responsibilities including planning, marking, assessment, and reporting
Contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and moderation
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and student progress
Work collaboratively within a supportive and experienced Maths team

The School Are Looking For:
A fully qualified Maths Teacher with QTS/QTLS
Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering AQA GCSE
Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 in a secondary setting
A committed classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupil achievement
Someone who values teamwork and contributes positively to department culture
A teacher seeking a stable, well-supported role from April 2026

Contract Details:
Position: Maths Teacher Maternity Cover
Location: Basingstoke
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-time maternity cover
Salary: Paid to scale (£32,916-£51,047)
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Curriculum: AQA GCSE

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
QTS/QTLS required
Experience teaching Maths at secondary level
Up-to-date safeguarding training (can be provided)

Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Two recent teaching references
