I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded construction contractor for a Design Coordinator to join their pre-construction and delivery team. With a strong pipeline of varied and exciting projects across the Midlands and surrounding regions, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking business that champions quality, collaboration, and innovation.

About the Role

As Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for the effective coordination and management of design deliverables throughout the pre-construction, construction, and handover phases. Your role will be key to ensuring the project team receives timely, accurate, and coordinated design information — ultimately helping to deliver successful and compliant schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate all design elements from pre-construction through to handover

*

Manage and track the design release schedule in line with procurement and build programme

*

Support with preparation of design consultant appointments and design responsibility matrices

*

Facilitate regular design meetings and ensure clear communication between all stakeholders

*

Use the project's Common Data Environment (e.g., Viewpoint for Projects) with support from document control

*

Work closely with consultants and subcontractors to deliver coordinated and buildable design solutions

*

Encourage cost-effective, value-driven design alternatives

*

Provide technical input to the wider project team and client as needed

*

Review specifications and drawings to ensure quality and compliance

*

Assist with statutory sign-offs including planning conditions, building control, section agreements

*

Coordinate environmental and sustainability elements (e.g., SAP, SBEM, BREEAM, Passivhaus)

*

Engage with consultants such as ecologists and arboriculturists to ensure planning and regulatory compliance

*

Obtain utility connection/disconnection quotes for live projects

*

Support compliance with CDM regulations and BIM workflows

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a Design Coordinator who thrives on problem-solving and collaboration. You'll need to be highly organised, a great communicator, and able to build strong relationships with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams alike.

Key Attributes & Skills:

Strong understanding of construction design processes and compliance

*

Experience in coordinating design packages across RIBA stages

*

Proficient in managing and tracking complex workflows and information release

*

Familiarity with Viewpoint (4Projects) or similar document control systems is a plus

*

Ability to communicate technical details clearly and confidently

*

A proactive and curious approach to finding the best solution

*

Keen eye for quality, safety, and commercial impact

*

Strong organisational and time management skills
