Maintenance Assistant

Join Foster + Partners and Help Keep a World-Class Environment Running Smoothly

At Foster + Partners, we're known for shaping some of the most iconic architectural spaces in the world — from skyline-defining buildings to sustainable campuses. But none of it comes to life without the well-run facilities that support our work behind the scenes — and that's where our Facilities team comes in.

We're looking for a hands-on and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join our London office and play a key role in keeping our working environment safe, functional, and efficient. If you're someone who enjoys solving practical problems, supporting a skilled team, and learning on the job, this is your opportunity to grow within one of the world's most prestigious design studios.

Why Join Us?

*

Be Part of a Global Design Leader - Support the daily operations that power a practice at the forefront of architecture and engineering.

*

Learn and Grow Every Day - Gain practical experience across electrical, mechanical, and building systems, with ongoing guidance from experienced facilities professionals.

*

Enjoy Variety and Purpose - Every day brings new challenges in a creative, fast-paced, and high-profile environment.

*

Work in a Beautiful Setting - Help maintain a workplace that's as inspiring behind the scenes as it is on the drawing board.

The Role

As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll support the Facilities Technicians and wider team in ensuring that our London headquarters is well-maintained, functional, and safe for everyone working here. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

*

Assisting with general building maintenance, including basic mechanical and electrical checks.

*

Carrying out routine inspections and small repairs around the office and studio.

*

Supporting office moves, furniture adjustments, and setup for internal events.

*

Responding to reported issues or faults and escalating them when needed.

*

Helping to monitor building systems and alarms under the guidance of senior technicians.

*

Keeping workspaces clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.

*

Logging tasks and supporting documentation as part of the team's reporting duties.

Who We're Looking For

We're open to people from a range of practical or trade backgrounds, or those with an interest in facilities, engineering, or building maintenance who are keen to learn and grow in a professional setting.

You'll ideally bring:

*

A practical mindset and willingness to get involved in a variety of maintenance tasks.

*

Some hands-on experience in a workshop, facilities, or site-based role (even informally).

*

Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

*

An awareness of health and safety in a working environment.

*

A flexible and reliable approach - ready to lend a hand wherever needed.

Make an Impact Behind the Scenes

This is your chance to join one of the most globally respected architecture practices and contribute to the smooth running of its creative heart. Whether you're starting out in your career or looking to build on existing practical skills, you'll be joining a supportive, hard-working team that keeps everything running — quietly but brilliantly.
