Interim Group Financial Controller

Up to £550 per day

Wakefield based PLC

6 Months – possibly temp to perm

We are exclusively assisting one of our listed clients in the search for a new Group Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity and an excellent opportunity that could lead into a permanent appointment. However, in the first instance the priority is finding a suitable interim.

The successful applicant will lead the groups accounting, reporting and transactional finance teams, continually improving processes and developing the group financial reporting. The role will work closely with the CFO to support all strategic finance needs including external financial reporting and the integration of acquisitions into the group structure, as well as working closely with the Head of Commercial Finance in support of forecasting and analysis requirements.

Main key requirements for the successful applicant will include:

  • Expert knowledge and application of IFRS, with significant experience of application in a listed environment, as well as ability to communicate principles and requirements to successfully a non-financial audience
  • Providing leadership and management for the Group’s Accounting, Reporting and Transactional Finance teams, ensuring a culture of high performance and continual improvement
  • Ensuring that Financial Controls are maintained in place at an appropriate level for the Group at each stage in its development
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with banks, auditors, HMRC etc
  • Treasury and working capital management
  • Maintaining and reporting KPIs for the Group Finance Teams that identify, track and communicate performance against key outcomes, highlighting and mitigating issues
  • Knowledge of key taxation principles, specifically around corporation tax, with understanding of R&D tax credits

Experience and qualifications

  • Qualified ACA or equivalent with at least 5 years post qualified experience
  • Likely to have had a background including auditing at a top tier firm
  • Experience of working in Finance at a senior level within a listed/IFRS environment
  • People management experience with track record of delivering improvements
