Job Description

Fashion Design Associate
 

Pastel is a children's and teen's direct to consumer brand with various locations in the tristate area. We are focused on quality, whimsy, and detail with a European influence. We are a growth oriented, close knit brand, seeking employees who can grow with us. The Design Associate will support the overall functions of the Design/Merchandising/Product development teams and bring design ideas to life.

Key qualities we look for at Pastel: One MUST be a self-starter, be able to manage your own time, and work in a highly collaborative environment. While your main focus will be tech pack development, it is imperative that you understand not only the specific customer requirements, but all internal requirements as well. As a small sized, but quickly growing company, you must be able to work well with others and understand that working, as a team, is the key to our success. Responsibilities

  • Create CADs quickly and efficiently
  • Create initial techpacks with specs
  • Participate in new style development, including color pallets, lab dips, graphic art direction for designers
  • Understanding product options as well as the logic of turn times to help meet merchandising deadlines and customer needs
  • Work as a team with designers and technical design to assure all techpack requirements are communicated properly and thoroughly so development process runs smooth
  • Understand time and action calendars-work with production to assure deadlines are met
  • Must be creative, have a sense of color, fashion, and an eye for graphic design as well as merchandising collections
  • Have a good understanding of printing techniques, and product development
  • Must have problem solving and decision-making skills and a thorough understanding of the process (why we do what we do) as well as the ability to anticipate, and to see around corners.
  • Communicate directly with overseas vendors

Required experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 4 years of Apparel or related industry
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office
  • Extremely organized, detailed and accurate
  • Proactive and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong prioritizing and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with overseas vendors
