Responsibilities

As a Senior Town Planner/Principal Town Planner, you will:

Lead and manage planning projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure.
Provide expert planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other related documentation.
Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional development.
Stay up-to-date with changes in planning legislation and policy to provide informed guidance.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to apply.
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a consultancy or local authority setting.
Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

Engaging with clients to understand their planning needs and objectives.
Conducting site visits and assessments to gather critical information.
Preparing detailed planning reports and applications for submission.
Collaborating with colleagues and external consultants to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Representing clients at planning committees, public consultations, and appeals.
Monitoring project progress and ensuring timely delivery of services.
