Job Description

The Engineering Division of the H&K Group, Inc., is looking for the ideal civil engineer.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience with Land Development, PCSM/E&S Planning & Design.   Pennsylvania licensure is preferred.  Knowledge of AutoCADD Civil 3D is necessary and candidate must possess strong organization and writing skills.

This self-motivated, organized, competent, and professional individual who performs engineering designs related to the preparation of subdivision and land development plans and surface mining permit applications.  Design work includes, but not limited to, feasibility studies, ordinance review and compliance, gravity sewer and sewage pumping stations, PADEP Sewage Facilities Planning Modules, storm water management, design of best management practices (BMPs), including water quality improvements, surface and underground detention, stormwater infiltration, water system designs, soil erosion and sediment control design, NPDES permitting and construction specifications.

Essential Abilities, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and review the completion of detailed drawings, utilizing established company drafting standards, to accompany engineering division projects including, but not limited to, subdivisions, land developments, NPDES permits, and mine permit applications.

  • Direct and review the completion of maps and charts showing profile and cross sections indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to buildings, retaining walls, tunnels, utilities, and other structures.

  • Communicate project needs with survey team in order to gather required site background information prior to design as well as for design support during stake out and construction of projects following approval of the design.

  • Communicate and direct CADD drafters and designers to ensure efficient project flow pertaining to plans preparation and completion.

  • Effectively communicate via written narrative with general correspondence and project narratives.

  • Occasionally travel to field meetings to communicate project design aspects with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients. Individual may also be required to travel to various county courthouses in order to obtain land and ownership information in the form of deeds, plot plans, and GIS data. (A company fleet vehicle will be provided in such instances.)

  • Compute volumetric calculations of excavations and fills and well as prepare tables of the data.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Equipment/Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual MUST have an in depth knowledge of AutoCADD with the Solid Works module. NO EXCEPTIONS. The individual shall also be competent using Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. (Experience in AGTEK, Arc GIS, HEC RAS, VTPSUHM a plus.)
