The Role
We are looking for an inspiring and committed Music Teacher to join the school from August 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to teach within a vibrant boarding community where music plays a central role in school culture, from classroom learning to performances and ceremonial traditions.
The successful candidate will teach across a broad age, range (10-18) and help shape the school’s dynamic musical environment, including its celebrated traditions in piping, drumming, and ensemble performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high-quality Music lessons aligned to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Teach Music across multiple year groups (ages 10-18).
- Prepare pupils for National Qualifications, Highers, and Advanced Highers.
- Actively contribute to the school’s rich musical life, including ensembles, concerts, and ceremonial events.
- Support and develop extracurricular music programmes.
- Maintain excellent standards of planning, assessment, and classroom practice.
Requirements
- GTCS registration (essential).
- Qualified Teacher Status and a recognised teaching qualification in Music.
- Experience of the Scottish Curriculum (desirable).
- Strong musicianship and passion for developing young performers.
- A commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral responsibilities.
- Enthusiasm for contributing fully to the extracurricular and community aspects of boarding school life.
