Assessment Delivery Lead

  • 2 days per week working onsite in Oxford. 3 days per week working remotely.

A new exciting permanent opportunity has become available for an Assessment Delivery Lead to play a pivotal role in the delivery of my clients English Language Teaching (ELT) Assessment digital products globally. This role is crucial as digital becomes the core of their future, focusing on both internal and external suppliers to ensure agile delivery of agreed scope.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage and oversee internal and third-party engineering and delivery teams to deliver application development, enhancements, and maintenance activities.
  • Partner with Divisional Product Strategy teams and other Technology and Business functions to define and develop Value Stream commitments.
  • Work with delivery partners to embed continuous improvement driven by data and comprehensive delivery processes.
  • Ensure product solutions are delivered on time and within budget, focusing on quality, cost, engineering rigour, standards alignment, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the architecture team to deliver applications that align with agreed target architecture and standards.
  • Transition new applications/products from Strategic Programme/Project phase into Value Stream, ensuring smooth transitions with operational teams.
  • Work closely with the Change Management Team and Change Approval Board to ensure deployments are communicated effectively and follow correct procedures. 
Succeeding in the role:
  • Meeting KPIs that measure value stream productivity and delivery aligned to business outcomes.
  • Making decisions that enable application portfolio management and prioritisation (convergence, new, phase out).
  • Providing accurate estimates for the development of new enhancements.
  • Defining and improving engineering quality metrics, including defect levels, operational stability, security, and performance.
  • Effectively collaborating to implement solutions that match the required architecture, design, and development standards as set by the architecture team.
  • Ensuring a smooth transition into value stream delivery with no detrimental impact on the delivery of enhancements.
  • Fostering an embedded culture of regular review of team and individual performance which delivers open feedback and development plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Skilled communicator with excellent stakeholder management abilities, capable of influencing at a senior level.
  • Proven track record of global success, maintaining commitments, and being a trusted advisor.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong delegation and empowerment skills.
  • Solutions-focused with a clear sight of longer-term strategy to drive short-term outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of technology delivery methodologies and operational outcomes.
  • Innovative thinker with creative problem-solving skills, capable of resolving complex service issues.
  • Comfortable with strategic customer engagement and expert at determining actual needs.
  • Any previous experience working at a publishing, Assessment based company is advantageous.
