Job Title: HR Officer / HR Administrator

Salary: £9 - £11 per hour

Location: Burgess Hill

Duration: 6 - 8 month contract with the possibility of contract extension

Hours: 2/3 full days per week, however flexibility for 5 shoter days per week

We are excited to be working with our established client in their search for a HR Officer. This is an exciting role for a candidate with previous experience working within the HR sector, who thrives in a productive and friendly working environment.

The HR Officer will be responsible supporting the HR function in the delivery and continued development of a high quality, proactive, comprehensive HR service. As such, the ideal person will have previous experience in a HR Officer role, with the ability to manage and prioritise high workloads.

Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Data, Payroll and Workforce Information

* Effectively manage the payroll process by liaising with staff and the payroll team to ensure all changes accurately administered

* Maintaining employee salary records and to liaise with the payroll team to ensure prompt and accurate payments are made to employees i.e. salary changes and new starters and leavers etc

* Developing and utilising the HR database to produce management information on indicators such as absence, voluntary turnover rates, and exit interview trends and training

* To be responsible for all aspects of the new joiner and staff leaver process including inputting information into the HR database

Pay, Terms and Conditions

* To support the Head of HR and Training to ensure that pay, terms and conditions are managed effectively and efficiently

* To support Head of HR and Training in the review and implementation of HR policies and procedures as and when required

* To respond to general queries relating to HR Procedures and policies


* Assisting in the preparation of offers, including references, DBS application checks and contracts of employment

* Assisting in the preparation of changes in employment letters

* Assisting in the preparation and placement of all job advertisements

* Ensuring shortlisting panels receive job applications and all other information required to enable the completion of shortlisting candidates for interview


* To develop, manage and implement the full range of systems and processes to support an effective HR service

* To make autonomous decisions in relation to day-to-day HR Administration matters

* Ensure a methodical, meticulous approach to all work, keeping high standards in all communication, correspondence and documentation

The Person:

* High level of competence in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

* High levels of numeracy with accuracy and attention to detail

* Methodical and organised

* Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal

* Ability to manage own workload and meet tight deadlines often under pressure

* Tact and diplomacy to work with confidential information and build effective

* Resilience to handle staff who may be under pressure

* Previous experience in a similar HR role

* Knowledge of social care and/or mental health services
