This privately owned FMCG manufacturer is looking for a hands on Finance Manager to become part of the senior team and provide financial information that will support their continued growth. The business is profitable and currently operating at £2.5 - £3m turnover, they supply a number of specialist retailers and national multiples whilst also exploring export markets and developing new products on a regular basis so the future looks very bright.

The new Finance Manager will work closely with a part-time consultant FD and will be the only finance person on site on a daily basis, this will therefore be a very hands on role that will develop into a Financial Controller / no.1 role over time when the consultant reduces their hours. The ideal candidate for this position must therefore be looking for career growth and professional development within a growing business. The key requirements for this vacancy will be:


• Reporting to the MD and consultant FD and working collaboratively as part of a management team onsite
• Preparation of the management accounts with variance analysis and commentary
• Producing reports on the financial performance of the business
• P&L, balance sheet recs, gross margin and financial KPI analysis
• Reporting on sales, cost of sales and labour / materials
• Preparation of budgets, cash flow management and forecasting
• Manage all transactional activity including credit control
• Capital expenditure analysis and maintenance of fixed asset register
• Analysis and control of direct and overhead costs & variances.
• Support the preparation of year-end financial statements

Part of this role will involve driving process improvement in finance and across the business, the Finance Manager will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of company finance and ERP systems. In addition you will support the commercial teams with customer trading agreements and pricing structure whilst also being the go to person on site for external service providers, bank and HMRC etc.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of a broad finance role in an SME, a friendly disposition and the ability to be self-motivated, manage priorities and deliver results. Working knowledge of SAGE 50 and manufacturing systems would be useful. Applicants would preferably be able to demonstrate they are working towards a recognized accountancy qualification or be Qualified by Experience.
