We have exciting opportunity for a permanent Engineering Department Supervisor for a company based in Yatton, Bristol. The site is easily accessible via Clevedon, Weston Super Mare, and public transport links from Bristol also.

You will be reporting to the small parts Production Manager and oversee a variety of CNC machining and tooling assembly processes to produce quality parts, tooling and fixtures. The successful candidate will oversee the design and manufacture of a number of punch tools and crimping systems. In this role you will need to be highly organised and work with the production team in the development of prototypes and production tooling in line with company requirements.

Salary:
£30,770 - £34,000 per annum based on experience.

Shift:
8am-4pm Monday to Friday

Main Duties:

  • Overseeing the manufacture of punch tool and crimping prototype systems and developing existing tooling designs.
  • The monitoring of Heidenheim, Siemens and Fanuc systems to produce quality machined parts and tooling.
  • Monitoring tooling assembly builds and component quality.
  • Monitoring tooling assembly builds to ensure quality.
  • The monitoring of CNC systems to produce quality machined parts and tooling.
  • Monitoring tooling assembly builds and component quality.
  • Monitoring and improving processes throughout the department.
  • Studying work orders, drawings and machine planning.
  • Working to set procedures and tolerances.
  • Maintain continuity among colleagues by documenting, reporting and communicating on actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • To maintain the work are to a high standard of housekeeping (knowledge of 5S is advantageous).


Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the smooth operation of the applicable work areas.
  • Maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • To monitor the setting and operation of a variety of CNC programmable machines to produce a variety of high quality parts and tooling.
  • To ensure the department works safely, efficiently and to a good standard.
  • To assist with recruitment, training and performance management.
  • Monitor, measure and report on machine performance ensuring that continuous improvement principles are instilled to continually improve productivity.
  • Ensure all staff are trained developed, motivated and know what is expected of them.
  • Maintaining and driving of KPIs, objectives and targets and review performance.
  • Writing monthly reports.


Key attributes:

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, geometric tolerances and specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Capable of working accurately, calmly and effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with experience of building professional relationships across the Business.
  • Previous experience in a previous management or supervisory role essential.
  • A sound knowledge of procedural management and quality processes.


Main Duties: Quality

  • To ensure all relevant checks and paperwork are completed.
  • Overseeing the operation of the CMM machine to ensure the accuracy of the parts produced.
  • Monitoring first off checks and prototype prove out processes.
  • To ensure all databases are kept up to date.
  • Adhere to all risk assessments, safe systems of work, standard operating procedures and environmental practices.
  • Monitor and measure quality issues reducing sub-standard product.
  • Provide and implement ideas for continuous improvement and innovative solutions.
  • Strive to provide our customers with products or services of quality and value that are continuously ahead of our competition.

Main Duties: Health & Safety

  • Accountable for ensuring Health and Safety documentation is completed and up to date.
  • Ensure that we are compliant with Contractor Control procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies set out by the business.
  • To immediately correct or report any identified hazard and ensure that near misses & accident investigations are reviewed and that action is taken as soon as possible in order to eliminate or reduce risk and communicate significant remedies to other managers that may benefit.
  • Ensure that accident investigations are carried out in a timely manner.
  • To Maintain H&S standards in accordance with policy, resolve issues and seek proactive solutions.
  • To consistently prioritise the safety of the workforce.
  • Maintain personal standards of dress in line with policy and conduct yourself in a professional manner to all staff, customers and visitors.
  • Promote and implement the safety and management system for all the staff under your control.
  • To be accountable for the Maintenance and condition of equipment within the department.
