Automotive Service Writer (MAG)

Job Description

A MAG Service Writer oversees the service department for the Franchise assigned to them and is responsible for addressing customer concerns, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good customer relations, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives and maintaining service records. Additionally, they must satisfy service concerns of all customers, ensure that service is performed at the highest level and operate the department profitably.

As with all positions within MAG dealerships, Service Writers are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

Job Duties

MAG Service Writers are the face of the service department for their assigned franchise and are responsible to:

  • Promote a luxury experience for all service customers.
  • Create repair orders identifying accurate concerns from customer to be addressed.
  • Update all customers through out service experience throughout the day.
  • Book out completed repair orders and notify customers of completion.
  • Set next days appointments ensuring works can be completed in a timely manner via communication with the shop.
  • Keep up-to-date on manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
  • Maintain the highest Customer Service Index (CSI) rating from customers by handling customer complaints immediately and according to Dealership and Manufacturer policy

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a service writer is advantageous
  • Have been in the business for 2 years or more
  • Require strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors
  • Required to maintain the profitability of their departments while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Required to not only understand and keep abreast of the federal, state, and local regulations that affect their operations, but must also comply with these regulations including hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know and provide necessary training on these regulations and ethical practices
