*** £Competitive Salary Plus Excellent Benefits Shift Pattern: Wednesday to Saturday, 06:30 - 18:30 (A degree of flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the business) We are looking for a Transport Operator to join the team at our Hilsea depot.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? As a Transport Operator, you will be responsible for the daily planning of company and/or third party resources.
You will effectively manage vehicle utilisation and ensure drivers are given clear and precise instructions.
You will also ensure that all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of drivers hours and H&S regulations.
Reporting to the Transport Supervisor, your responsibilities will include: - Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors - Planning the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies, ensuring that all company sites are fully considered when doing so - Ensuring that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations - Liaising with the retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery times - Close liaison with other operators and team leaders to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practices - Assisting in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded - Effectively managing the balance between your own fleet and sub contract requirements, identifying and suggesting any areas for improvement - Conducting investigations into accidents or issues of driver performance and raising these with team leaders and HR to ensure they are dealt with efficiently and consistently - Working alongside the fleet to ensure timely return of vehicles - Working with compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner - Working alongside the team leader to ensure that costs are managed in accordance with the KPIs This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake other duties.
WHAT DO YOU NEED? To join us as a Transport Operator, you will need: - To be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent - Experience of managing your own workload within a pressurised environment - A sound understanding of vehicle planning - Sound geographical knowledge - A basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/tachograph law It would be desirable if you had: - Previous experience of working in a transport / distribution / logistics environment WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
