JOB TYPE: Temporary
SALARY: £55 - 65 per day
We are currently working with an outstanding Special Educational Needs school in Newark. They are looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start immediate full-time, long-term work.
The school caters for primary and secondary aged students who have complex needs. The school is very well managed, but it does have its challenges due to the range of SEN students. All students have a learning difficulty plus other needs which could be medical (such as epilepsy, feeding issues, diabetes etc.), ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, Downs syndrome and other genetic syndromes etc.
You will be expected to work within a small class usually numbering between 5 to 9 students. Each class has a teacher and 2 to 3 teaching assistants, enabling all pupils to receive the appropriate amount of care and support. You must be calm, flexible, have an understanding of SEN, behaviour management and communication difficulties.
Key skills and experience needed:
* SEN experience is essential, preferably with young people with complex needs
* Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
* Strong behaviour management
* One to one and small group work
* Professional manner
* Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach
