Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £40k - 50k DOE

Location: Hove (office-based, with occasional UK/international travel)

Employment: Permanent, full time

An established engineering manufacturer is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of low and medium voltage systems used in safety-critical applications.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to new product development, ensure designs are robust and manufacturable, and provide technical support to production and customers. The position suits an individual with strong mechanical fundamentals and practical CAD experience in regulated engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and development
• Support new product introduction from feasibility through to production
• Apply robust design tools such as DFMEA and functional analysis
• Produce and maintain accurate engineering documentation
• Support manufacturing, investigations, and customer site activities

Requirements

• HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
• 2D/3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
• Understanding of risk management and material properties

Desirable Experience

• Rail electrification products
• Mechanical interlocks and drive systems
• Thermoplastic / thermoset moulding
• Awareness of IEC / BS EN standards (e.g. IEC #removed#)
