A little bit about you.

We are looking for experienced, senior business results driven leader who is looking for a move into the exciting and challenging world of the scrap metal recycling industry. As our Director of Operations, you will be based out of our Barnsley site and will oversee from a strategic and business level, the day-to-day operational activities, commercial decisions regarding sourcing and sales of product, ensure efficient resource allocation, and maintain high standards of customer service. Your responsibilities will include managing budgets, analysing operational and commercial data, and leading a team to meet performance and EHS targets. You will be comfortable meeting the demands of the continuous improvement of the business and the management of relationships with clients and partners.

Your qualifications

* Experience in overall business leadership with bottom line focus and responsibility

* Understanding key business drivers and the ability to influence these positively for the overall benefit of the business

* Strong background in process optimisation, data analysis, and continuous improvement within fast-paced, global environments.

* Ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to drive change and influence decision-making at the executive level.

* Proven track record as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, with significant experience applying process improvement methodologies in large-scale operational transformation projects.

* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes under tight deadlines.

* Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategies.

* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

* Experience leading Health and Safety and driving to world class EHS performance

* Experience in the recycling or manufacturing industry is a plus

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
