We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Assistant to work for Sussex Police at Brighton Police Station

This is a temporary role working Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm and will be office based.

You are required to have clean UK Valid Driving Licence due to travel to other locations within the force.


This post will work as part of a geographical based Facilities Site Management team, providing a flexible, responsive multi disciplined service delivery across a range of Facilities services including local administration, local courier & logistics; facilities fleet and pool car maintenance, mailroom services (hub sites); portering; meeting room management; office moves & churn, reception of visitors and contractors and general site maintenance tasks.


Respond to requests for local facilities and other site management services in accordance with agreed service standards and KPI's ensuring a responsive, timely and professional customer service is achieved
Provide local courier services including collection and delivery of mail (between hub sites); evidential & found property, firearms, cash, furniture, office equipment, waste and transportation of staff i.e. to and from court, local railway stations, etc. This service will include logistics support services both within and out of Force where required
Provide local administration services including cash handling, banking, GPC orders and reconciliations, stationery & printing orders, stock controls; filing, inventory tracking, etc.
Provide local portering services including meeting room set up/layout changes; car park management, mailroom support to hub sites, and other general porter duties as required
Provide assistance to the Facilities Officer with general site housekeeping services including fire alarm testing; scheduled evacuation drills; contractor site induction, changing light fittings, clearing external areas and basic decoration work across a range of locations within the geographic area.
Assist with facilities support for office moves, estates changes and decommissioning work in support of the Estates and Future Workplace strategies
Provide facilities support to major operational events as required e.g. setting up of the Strategic Command Centre (SCC) at HQ; local incident command venues, response to adverse weather, etc.
Responsible for the cleanliness, fluid/tyre pressure checks and servicing schedules for the fleet of Facilities vehicles and pool cars, ensuring that these resources continue to be fully operational and offer a professional image of the Force.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded postSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent customer service skills
Good level of literacy and numeracy
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literate.
Able to follow written work instructions
Able to document and maintain records accurately
Good planning and organising skills with the ability to work to
Ability to work in a team environment as well as alone and be self motivated
Knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation
Physically fit for manual handling activities.
Ability to drive and pass a basic Police Driving test.
Ability to drive a range of vehicles including vans and minibuses.
Flexibility to respond to call outs and other Force requirements e.g. MIST (SCC)
