We’re recruiting an Accounts Senior in Dundee on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant to take ownership of client work, develop technical expertise, and build strong relationships across a varied business advisory portfolio.
The Role
As Accounts Senior – Business Advisory, you will manage allocated advisory and accounts work from start to finish, ensuring delivery meets the firm’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Handling allocated business advisory work effectively and in accordance with firm policies
- Preparing draft accounts from client records, clearing review points, and finalising accounts
- Preparing initial business and personal tax computations, ensuring standards are met, budgets are realistic, and additional opportunities to assist clients are flagged
- Coordinating tax and other business line work with the manager responsible for the client
- Engaging with relationship managers and colleagues from other business lines to gain a thorough understanding of client businesses
- Liaising with client staff on-site, building effective professional relationships
- Monitoring budgeted versus actual time spent, flagging issues or overruns to the manager promptly
- Keeping the Manager informed of matters affecting budgets, fees, or deadlines
- Keeping clients informed of progress and issues while maintaining confidentiality
- Completing accounts files and all required documentation accurately and on time
You will also have the opportunity to identify additional advisory opportunities and contribute to the growth of the client relationship.
About You
You will have a background in public practice and one of the following:
- Qualified or near completion of AAT, CA, ACCA, or equivalent
- Strong experience in accounts and business advisory work, even without a formal professional qualification
You will demonstrate:
- Strong IT skills and experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks
- Good working knowledge of client accounting systems
- Some experience in tax preparation is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships
- A proactive, client-focused approach
