Are you a seasoned Process Safety Engineer ready to make a significant impact in the oil and gas industry? Join our client's dynamic Process Safety Team based in Norwich, UK, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding operations across the Southern North Sea.

This position offers the challenge of managing and facilitating a variety of critical process safety studies and risk assessments—such as HAZOP, LOPA, FERA, and QRA—ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance are met. Required Skills
Strong process engineering background with at least 8 years' experience in process and process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas sector
In-depth knowledge of process safety risk assessment methodologies, including FERA, FTA, HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, ORA, and QRA
Expertise in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and functional safety standards, particularly IEC 61511
Proven experience in LOPA facilitation, SIL determination, SIF design, and SIL verification
Proficiency with process simulation tools such as Hysys (or equivalent); knowledge of Olga highly advantageous
Familiarity with consequence modelling tools; Phast experience is a plus (training available)
Ability to provide sound engineering solutions to close risk gaps in line with health, safety, environmental legislation, and company standards
Solid experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes, incident investigations, and safety-critical task analysis
Excellent communication and mentoring skills to support early-career engineers and graduatesNice to Have Skills
Functional Safety Engineer (FS Eng) certification or equivalent (e.g., TÜV, Exida)
Working knowledge of Safety Case Regulations and COMAH requirements
Experience in Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of plant operations
Operational experience in hazardous areas and hazardous area classification updates per EI15
Familiarity with offshore safety training certifications such as BOSIET/FOET, MIST, CA-EBS, and Offshore MedicalPreferred Education and Experience
MEng degree in Chemical and/or Process Engineering or equivalent qualification
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable but not essential
Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within major hazard facilities or oil and gas operationsOther Requirements
TÜV certification is essential for this role
Must reside within the UK and have full rights to work in the UK
