Support Worker - Supported Accommodation - Wrexham

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join a new supported accommodation service in the Wrexham region. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vital service supporting young people aged 16 to 17 in developing resilience, independence, and confidence as they prepare for adulthood. The supported accommodation is located in Wrexham, within the North Wales area, and provides a safe, nurturing environment focused on safeguarding, personal development, and community engagement.

About the Role

The Support Worker will play a key role in building positive relationships with young people, supporting them to develop essential life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and self-care. The role involves promoting wellbeing and emotional resilience through daily support and structured routines, encouraging engagement in education, training, and employment. Safeguarding young people in accordance with statutory guidance and organisational policies is paramount.

The position requires working collaboratively within a team to ensure stability and consistency in the supported accommodation. The Support Worker will record keywork sessions, contribute to support planning, and support young people's personal development through community participation and activities.

Person Specification

Candidates should have a strong passion for supporting young people to achieve independence. Excellent communication skills, patience, resilience, and adaptability are essential. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, is required. Experience in supported accommodation, residential childcare, or similar settings is desirable but not essential; a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a willingness to complete it within specified timescales is preferred.

Candidates who are male, over 25, hold a driver's licence, and possess relevant outdoor activity or military experience are highly encouraged to apply. Such backgrounds can be beneficial for engaging young people in outdoor activities and fostering a proactive approach.

Shift Pattern

* Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday

* Week 2: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday

* Week 3: Thursday

Shifts run from 9 am to 9:30 pm, with sleep-in hours from 11 pm to 7 am and handover from 7 am to 9:30 am. The annual salary is approximately £34,000, including sleep-in allowances.
