The School:

This school is known to be one of the best SEN schools in Surrey. They provide a safe learning environment for children complex learning, social and communication difficulties, which may include physical disability. The school also provides therapies such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music, speech and language therapies where these are part of a young person's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The team works closely with therapists to ensure the physical and emotional support of the children. The school has excellent facilities and on-site equipment including a therapy pool, sensory rooms and uses I-Gaze technology, and there is excellent on-site training and support, helping with progression to become senior support assistants, teachers, therapy assistants etc.

The Children:

This is a challenging key stage 2 class with 9 children. You will be part of a team with a strong class teacher who has been at the school for a number of years. You will also work with 4 teaching assistants.

Teaching and Learning: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - HLTA- Lead TA - KS2 - Special Needs

The school is looking to recruit a HLTA or Lead TA to join one of their key stage 2 classes.

  • Cover the class teacher during their PPA time. Teaching all pupils in your assigned class/group, according to their individual needs, by providing a sensory rich lessons and activities
  • Establish behaviour programmes, monitor and record progress, according to school policy.
  • Promote and praise achievement and good behaviour.
  • Support with the planning of lessons and activities in all curriculum areas.
  • Maintain regular and effective means of communication with parents in accordance to school policy and procedure.
  • Support and work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapy teams, parents and any volunteers that may support the pupils learning.
  • Encourage the participation of parents in all aspects of school life.
  • Support those pupils who have part-time placements in mainstream schools or Alternate Provision as required.

***May 24 starts are available depending on the applicant.

***£105-£125 per day, depending on where you are on the pay scale.

***Temporary and permanent contracts are both available.
