Job Description


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Establish goals to accomplish operational objectives and maximize productivity and payroll with store managers and support staff.

  • Analyze, evaluate and respond to store conditions to improve profitability.

  • Develop, execute and participate in maintaining operational standards throughout the Company.

  • Maximize store sales and profitability.

  • Counsel and provide guidance to staff and store managers in solving problems and decision making to achieve operational objectives/plans, including communication of appropriate company policies, procedures and expenses.

  • Coordinate and execute all sales and merchandising plans at store level.

  • Monitor and implement the identification of promotable people, all employment training, promotions and associate relations programs of store personnel.

  • Participate in the development of Company sanitation standards as well as implement and maintain such standards.

  • Monitor inventory levels with established guidelines to ensure proper inventory controls and product availability.

  • Suggest, implement and monitor cost savings in area(s) of responsibility.

  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with peers, subordinates and management.

  • Protect Company assets and monitor security policies.

  • Ensure proper maintenance and usage of Company equipment.



    Manages store managers and store personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have store level retail experience in a perishable or grocery environment (minimum of 5 years). Should have experience (2-year minimum) as a supervisor in their respective field. Multi-store experience is preferred. Must have intermediate-to-advanced training/experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes.



    Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.



    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.



    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
