We are seeking a dedicated Student Services Adviser to join our team. This role is crucial in providing high-quality support, information, advice, and guidance to learners, enhancing their chances of successful completion of their programmes and progression into further education, training, or employment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Proactively engage and provide 1:1 support to a caseload of learners 'at risk', developing robust safety or support plans to remove barriers to learning.
  • Offer a range of signposting information and advice on issues such as benefits, homelessness, childcare, sexual health, substance misuse, and bursaries, referring to external organisations as necessary.
  • Serve as a core member of the College’s central Safeguarding Team, acting as a Safeguarding Officer to take appropriate and timely actions to safeguard students.
  • Triage, assess, and action referrals, monitor learner lists in line with caseload thresholds and safeguarding procedures.
  • Attend Child Protection or Child in Need case conferences as appropriate, in liaison with the relevant curriculum team.
  • Conduct risk assessments, including assessments on mental health and criminal exploitation, and produce support plans in conjunction with curriculum/external agencies/parents and carers.
  • Collaborate with the Student Services team to lead, supervise, or support a range of cross-college enrichment activities and community action/learner voice initiatives.
  • Maintain, administer, and compile accurate case notes and interventions relating to learners and provide data to monitor student progress, achievement, and outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting, providing support and guidance to students.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and experience in a safeguarding role.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and external organisations.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team to support the needs of students.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to undertake additional training as required.
