We are seeking a reliable and proactive Programmed Work Caretaker to join a dynamic Estate Services Team within a public sector environment. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong sense of responsibility, practical cleaning and caretaking skills, and a commitment to community upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all internal and external areas of council-managed housing estates are cleaned to the agreed standards and frequency.

  • Remove bulky items and fly-tipping; carry out deep cleaning, including bin chambers and graffiti removal, or clean communal windows up to third floor.

  • Safely operate and maintain council vehicles and cleaning equipment.

  • Work flexibly across teams (Fly-tipping, Window Cleaning, or Deep Cleaning) as required.

  • Report environmental issues, support efforts to prevent fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour, and engage positively with residents and partners.

  • Participate in training, service development, and cover as needed for absence or demand.

Requirements:Essential:
  • Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy

  • Full, valid UK driving licence

  • Understanding of the social housing sector

  • Awareness of COSHH and risk assessment health & safety requirements

  • Experience with public-facing service delivery and basic cleaning tasks

  • Physically fit to carry out demanding tasks including lifting and use of industrial materials

  • Comfortable using mobile technology to record and report tasks

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Basic DIY/handyperson skills (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing signage)

Desirable:
  • Experience working in housing or estate services

  • Experience engaging with residents or tenants
