Reed Accountancy Oxford are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a family owned business in North West Oxfordshire who are seeking an organised, proactive Bookkeeper with experience using Xero, strong Accounts Payable skills including PO matching, and an understanding of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is beneficial. The ideal candidate will be someone with a can-do attitude, who takes initiative, communicates well, and thrives in a fast-paced, growing business. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping duties ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
- Manage the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, PO matching, approvals, and supplier queries.
- Process CIS payments and deductions accurately, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Verify subcontractor status, submit monthly CIS returns, and issue CIS statements.
- Support Accounts Receivable, including raising customer invoices and assisting with credit control.
- Maintain and update the Xero accounting system with high levels of accuracy.
- Liaise with site teams to ensure POs, delivery notes and job costs are correctly captured.
- Work closely with external accountants.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes across finance and administration.
- Provide general administrative and finance support as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a Bookkeeper or similar finance role.
- Strong Accounts Payable background.
- Proficient in Xero (essential).
- An understanding of CIS compliance, returns, and subcontractor payments will be beneficial.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Proactive, energetic, and keen to take on more responsibility as the business grows.
- A go-getter with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
