Housing Options Officer - 6-Month Temporary Contract

Location: Essex (Hybrid Working)
Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently working with a local authority in Essex who are seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their team on a 6-month temporary contract. This role offers hybrid working, with a combination of remote work and office-based duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing housing advice and assistance to customers at risk of homelessness

*

Managing homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996

*

Completing homelessness assessments, Personalised Housing Plans, and statutory decision letters

*

Working proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness, including landlord negotiation

*

Liaising with internal teams and external agencies to secure suitable housing solutions

*

Ensuring cases are managed in line with current legislation and guidance

Key Requirements:

Previous experience as a Housing Options / Homelessness Officer within a local authority

*

Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and housing legislation

*

Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines

*

Confident communicator with strong problem-solving skills
