We are working with a well-established, wholesale business based in Salford seeking a Accounts Assistant to support their day-to-day finance operations within a small, friendly team environment. This is a varied role offering real ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys working across both finance and admin in an SME setting.

Accounts Assistant – The Package:

• Excellent culture (Staff Tenure at 44 years, 32 years, 18 years in accounts)

Accounts Assistant – Responsibilities:

• Managing purchase and sales ledger Raising and processing invoices, bank reconciliations and handling payments Supporting VAT preparation for the external accountant Credit control – chasing overdue accounts Working with overseas suppliers, including:
• Import documentation
• VAT on imports
• Payroll
• Ensuring Quarterly VAT is prepared for external accountant
• Customs duties
• Multi-currency transactions (EUR/USD)
• Supporting stock-related finance processes General admin duties including handling queries and calls

Accounts Assistant – Person Spec:

• Experience in a Bookkeeping / Accounts role within an SME
• Strong understanding of ledger work, VAT and reconciliations
• Exposure to import/export or overseas supplier transactions
• Comfortable working independently in a small team
• Proactive, organised and willing to support across the business
