Senior Finance Officer

We are seeking a Senior Finance Officer to support the Systems Senior Accountant and Head of Corporate Finance. This role involves providing crucial financial and system support, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes within the Council. This position is ideal for finance professionals looking for a dynamic and impactful role in the public sector.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the development, testing, and delivery of processes for all systems managed by the Systems Team.
- Automate and streamline processes to achieve core functions, maximising the use of available resources.
- Train and equip staff within Finance Services and other Directorates of the Council to fulfil their financial responsibilities.
- Provide robust, reliable business reporting in a user-friendly format that meets the business needs.
- Own the configuration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of our Finance System in alignment with our objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Hold an AAT qualification or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- Financial management experience within a large organisation.
- Experience in providing services to diverse audiences, driven by quality and responsive to stakeholder needs.
- Ability to interpret complex information and provide support and guidance on financial issues.
- Proven experience in a financial and accounting environment, taking a lead role in finance-related work in support of development areas.
- Skilled in analysing and producing reliable and relevant financial information from the use of computerised financial systems.
- Experience in developing, operating, and managing complex spreadsheets.
- Proven experience in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of data within the financial general ledger.
- Ability to identify problems and develop solutions independently, making routine decisions with autonomy.
