Due to this rapid expansion, they are now looking to appoint a capable and driven Financial Controller to lead the finance function and act as a key business partner to the senior leadership team.This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping financial processes, driving performance, and helping steer the company through its next stage of growth.?? What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage day-to-day finance operations including cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
• Prepare monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and Companies House requirements
• Lead the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors and advisors
• Oversee payroll (in-house or via external providers)
• Deliver insightful financial analysis to support strategic and operational decisions
• Strengthen internal controls and drive improvements across systems and processes
• Supervise and support a Finance Assistant
• Present financial reporting to the senior leadership team

? What We’re Looking For

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
• Proven experience in a similar role (Financial Controller or Finance Manager) within an SME
• Excellent technical knowledge of financial reporting and statutory compliance
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to influence commercial decisions
• High volume transaction experience (750–1,000 invoices/month)
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar)
• Self-starter with initiative, ownership mindset, and strong organisational skills
• Experience in transport, logistics, or distribution is an advantage—but not essential
