Financial Controller to lead the finance function and act as a key business partner to the senior leadership team.This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping financial processes, driving performance, and helping steer the company through its next stage of growth.?? What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage day-to-day finance operations including cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements
- Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and Companies House requirements
- Lead the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors and advisors
- Oversee payroll (in-house or via external providers)
- Deliver insightful financial analysis to support strategic and operational decisions
- Strengthen internal controls and drive improvements across systems and processes
- Supervise and support a Finance Assistant
- Present financial reporting to the senior leadership team
? What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Proven experience in a similar role (Financial Controller or Finance Manager) within an SME
- Excellent technical knowledge of financial reporting and statutory compliance
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to influence commercial decisions
- High volume transaction experience (750–1,000 invoices/month)
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar)
- Self-starter with initiative, ownership mindset, and strong organisational skills
- Experience in transport, logistics, or distribution is an advantage—but not essential
