Software Engineer - Staffordshire
Due to the expansion of the engineering team, an exciting opportunity is available to join an industry leading manufacturing business as Software Engineer.
Our client is looking for a dynamic and innovative Software Engineer eager to make a meaningful impact on their journey to Net Zero emissions within their industry. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in programming, designing, testing, and commissioning software for various control systems.
The role will largely be based on site in Stone, however the successful candidate will be required to visit client sites which could include overnight stays.
Software Engineer - Rewards
* £35,000 - £54,000 depending on experience
* Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (37.5 hrs)
* 25 days holiday per year + Bank Holidays
Software Engineer - Duties
* Develop software for PLCs, PACs, and HMIs
* Produce comprehensive design documentation
* Test and validate software to ensure system functionality
* Implement and fine-tune integrated systems at customer sites
* Provide technical software support to other departments, including Service
* Resolve field issues and offer appropriate support
* Assist team members with technical issues and questions
* Maintain accurate development/design records in alignment with Orbital's QA system
* Offer assistance and support to other engineering disciplines within the design team
* Attend design working group meetings to contribute to ongoing projects
Software Engineer - Requirements
* Minimum HND in Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related fields
* 5 years of hands-on experience in conceiving and implementing software on PLC based systems
* Proficiency in IE(phone number removed) programming languages, including ST (Structured Text), FBD (Function Block Diagram), SFC (Sequential Function Chart), and LLD (Ladder Logic)
* Experience with the complete software/systems design lifecycle
* In-depth knowledge of network and serial communications protocols and hardware
* Valid driver's license
* Knowledge of Control and Instrumentation Engineering
* Understanding of Operational Technology Cyber Security
* Experience across multiple PLC suppliers, such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
