Mechanical Technician - Wallsend
Salary: circa £41,000
Contract: Fixed term, 12 months
Location: On-site, North Tyneside

Role Overview

* Hands-on mechanical assembly role within a heavy engineering environment

* Assembly of large steel fabrications, hydraulic cylinders and operating systems

* Working from engineering drawings and parts lists to deliver high-quality builds

* Ensuring compliance with production schedules, quality standards and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

* Assemble complex mechanical and hydraulic systems

* Build and fit large-scale steel fabrications and hydraulic equipment

* Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings

* Perform hydraulic builds, testing and system integration

* Maintain safe working practices in line with company and regulatory standards

* Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow

* Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities

Required Experience & Skills

* Proven mechanical assembly experience in a heavy engineering environment

* Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

* Strong decision-making and fault-finding capability

* High attention to detail and accuracy

* Confident working independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

* HNC or equivalent technical qualification (or relevant practical experience)
