Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable)
Location: London - 2 days in the office per week
Salary: £38,000
Contract Type: 6-month FTC

We are partnering with a UK humanitarian charity in their search for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable) to join their Finance team. This role is key to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all income streams, including donations, grants, membership fees, and trading income.

Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the debtor ledger, supporting cash flow, and delivering a high-quality receivables service to colleagues, funders, donors, and partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process all incoming income, ensuring correct allocation across donor, project, and fund codes (including restricted funds)
  • Raise sales invoices and manage the accounts receivable ledger
  • Monitor and chase outstanding debts, issuing statements and reminders
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate Gift Aid records and support HMRC claims
  • Track grant income and support funder reporting requirements
  • Ensure all financial records are well-organised and audit-ready
  • Work closely with internal teams to clarify income and support reporting
  • Oversee petty cash, cheques, and secure handling of financial assets
About You

Essential:

  • AAT qualified or working towards AAT (or equivalent)
  • Experience in accounts receivable, income processing, or a similar finance role
  • Proven experience with invoicing, bank reconciliations, and credit control
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and audit requirements
  • Proficiency in finance systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using online banking platforms (e.g. BACS, CHAPS)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of transactions

Desirable:

  • Experience in a charity or grant-funded organisation
  • Understanding of restricted funds and donor compliance
  • Experience with CRM systems or donor databases
  • Experience managing direct debits or recurring income
