A Multi-discipline contractor are now recruiting for a Bid Writer to join the team, this is a hybrid role but with a fully subsidised canteen, onsite gym, open bar some Fridays and free parking it would be a surprise if you didn’t want to be onsite more often!

Along with a healthy salary up to £55k (negotiable), and the above benefits you will receive 29 days holiday (inc bank holidays), 2 volunteer days, Private Medical Insurance, Pension, Healthshield cover, Employee Wellbeing Service and DIS x 4.

This is a good opportunity for you, an experienced Bid Writer to join their team. You will lead the production of high-quality submissions, working closely with the Bid Director to strategise and develop compelling content that distinguishes them from the competition. To be considered for this job, you will have experience of Public Sector bid writing in highways or construction.

Duties include;

  • Take responsibility for the production of all written responses, either as the lead author or in support of other team members
  • Own and write specific responses, conduct interviews with operational and corporate support staff, and proofread documents produced by others
  • Produce written quality sections/responses for all aspects of the delivery process, using both personal knowledge and information gathered from internal teams
  • Research client backgrounds and strategies, communicating these insights to the Bid Team.
  • Meet with key subcontractors/suppliers to gather evidence of past works and develop tender-specific solutions
  • Attend site visits to acquire onsite knowledge and develop case studies
  • Assist in preparing presentations for both mid-bid and post-submission stages
  • Participate in pre and post-award meetings with clients to ensure a smooth operational and commercial handover of projects
  • Engage with clients following both successful and unsuccessful bids to obtain feedback and drive continuous improvement
  • Help develop and maintain bid collateral, such as case studies
  • Attend project close-out meetings to produce relevant material
  • Visit live contracts to review current best practices and integrate this knowledge back into the team

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Highways-specific experience is preferred, without this, Construction experience will be essential
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of leading successful bid submissions to the Public Sector
  • Experience in management and mentoring
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Strong ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across various levels of the organisation
