An established national housebuilder is seeking an Estimator to join their South East team, based in Maidstone. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in the financial appraisal of residential developments across Kent and East Sussex.

The Opportunity

The Estimator will work closely with both the Land and Commercial departments, providing accurate cost assessments to support the acquisition of new sites. The role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to present findings at senior level and to external stakeholders such as local authorities, land agents, and landowners.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing detailed cost estimates for residential developments, working with technical and engineering teams

Separating and identifying standard and abnormal costs

Maintaining and updating a library of construction costs for core house types

Producing land viability assessments to enable senior management to evaluate profitability and cash flow

Presenting cost plans to internal boards and external organisations

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven experience in cost planning and estimating for residential developments

Strong quantity surveying skills

Ability to assess costs from preliminary planning drawings, including identification of risks and omissions

Good knowledge of groundworks, roads, sewers, and plot works

Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and Outlook

Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability, and a proactive, positive approach
