Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our aerospace division in Bristol, specialising in aircraft structures. You will play a critical role in supporting our clients by delivering high-quality structural analysis, ensuring designs meet stringent safety, certification, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed stress analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures using classical methods and finite element analysis (FEA).

  • Conduct static, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments in accordance with relevant airworthiness requirements.

  • Support the development and validation of structural concepts, modifications, and repairs.

  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for both internal stakeholders and external clients/regulatory authorities.

  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to resolve structural challenges.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Stress Engineer within the aerospace industry, ideally with a focus on aircraft structures.

  • Strong capability in hand calculations and finite element modelling/analysis (e.g. NASTRAN, PATRAN, HyperMesh, Abaqus).

  • Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance methodologies.

  • Familiarity with civil or military aircraft certification requirements (EASA/FAA/DEF-STAN).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong communication skills, with experience in producing clear and concise technical documentation.
